Cupcake Couture: Crafts, Accessories & Creative Consulting
Cupcakes are merely the inspiration behind my creations. I love them and made a point of trying one in each place I travelled to. I tasted cupcakes from Hummingbird in London to Magnolia Bakery in New York and many other cupcakes all over the world. On retuning to South Africa I thought back to my travels and all those delicious treats...their colours and details inspired me. So...I named my business Cupcake Couture...the couture refers to the handmade element. I create vintage inspired and wedding accessories including alternatives to traditional boutonnieres, accessories and gifts for bridesmaids, corsages and badges for your guests to wear and one of a kind creations. I am also a creative consultant and work with independent creative folk to help develop their strategy and brands. I assist with defining your online presence through blogging and interesting forms of marketing. I bake blogs...feel free to ask for a menu.

Dandelion:
Dandelion designs is a small designer label with clothes made by Sarah Stone. My focus is on fun, feminine day wear for ladies. I sew various garments such as dresses, high waisted skirts, vests with fun, cute appliques and purses. All these items are different from what you can buy at the usual chain stores. I have been selling at the I heart market for the last year and have had a blast. Check out my Facebook page for pics, more info and contact details.
Visit:guru girl:
the guru girl brand founded in 2007 when I literally woke up one morning with the words guru and girl in my head … honestly she has grown from strength to strength from then to now. We have world domination plans of course but we are working on Africa to begin with
The main slogan behind the brand is “welcome to the upside down back to front world of guru girl” … and I feel that she resonates so well with all ages because she is not perfect in the way she looks or lives her life or thinks … she belongs to the cloud appreciation society and recycles SOME of the time … she believes in transforming bullies with hugs and knows that hanging upside down in trees makes her very clever … I have attached the gurugirlology for you to enjoy and to get a better understanding of how she thinks and feels!
Guru girl only ever uses positive words and never gives up hope … ever …
Everybody is our target market … my most regular customers at I heart market range from 4 to 5 all the way up to adult women … I do believe that the reason for this is because there is a little bit of guru girl in everybody …
guru girl is a feel good brand with strong imagery … ways of thinking and spreading the good vibes
we are proudly south African … we even loom our fabrics right here in Durban Currently our range includes: hoodies, tee shirts, happy hats, teebags, backpacks, greeting cards, large and small, calendars, notebooks, perspex necklaces, keyrings, badges, buttons, and adorable stickers. We giggle a LOT when peeps queue up at our I heart table to buy guru girl stuff.

Bella Ruffles:
I am a working mum who loves more interesting clothes for my little girl, and got tired of paying top dollar for things I could do myself. So I dusted off my sewing machine & started sewing for her, only to find I had such good response from friends & colleagues. So I started sourcing fabric and sewing orders here & there. And now I'm sewing every evening once my muppet has gone to sleep! I have done one I heart market (November) and again had such a good response . I have done applique tees, with matching broekies... ideal for Durban's hot & humid summer. And I am a pain... I HATE seeing a nappy under a pretty frock, so summer skirts and dresses need broekies too, which are just not available in stores. I always try to use cotton fabrics which are best in our climate. I have lots of new patterns I am eager to try out, always keeping comfort & practicality foremost in my mind!

Caroline Words:
I have been trading at the I Heart Market for about 9 months and look forward to the market every month; the energy is great and it's wonderful to interact with other traders and the interesting people of Durban. With Fine Words & Designs I get to leave the corporate world behind and explore my creative and entrepreneurial side and just have fun! I love the idea of Wooden Words, simply because I think they look awesome on the wall and can transform a blank canvas into a space of inspiration, fun and art!! Customers can also choose words that suit their personalities and living space and add that personal touch of magic to their home.
Livvi Lou Art:
Handpainted canvas art for kids bedrooms. Fun, bright, different & original!
With a shortage of quirky art available in stores, I thought I should create my own ! All my artwork is very commercial, and compliments the kids bedding sets available in stores. My ranges are updated regularly as the trends change. Themes include pretty fairies, butterflies, hearts & princess castles for girls; and aeroplanes, cars, jungle animals and boats for boys. My artwork will make ALL the difference in your little one’s room! Come and view my artwork at the I heart market, my home since May this year.

I have been at the market from the beginning. I love it! I get to meet my customers and interacte with them. I work in sterling Silver and stones. Although I have many ranges my underlying theme is “Shape and Texture”.
Marie Claire Jewels (December 2011) described my jewellery as “like your favourite pair of jeans, they are always comfortable, they make you look good and you can wear them with anything.”

Barky Bark:
We are a massive team of 2, that has bending, banging, braising and welding down our workshop for the past 18 months. Neither of us had trained in the metalwork business hence there have been a few banged thumbs, a fair bit of wrestling with bolt cutters and grinders and head scratching while working out the wonders of putting metal together with flames and sparks. Out of this our Barky range of bowl holders has emerged. We have been trading at the 'I heart market ' for the past 14 months and love it !!

Whimsy:
whimsy started with a small scribbling project, simply drawing fanciful creatures and characters that appeared in my head and selling them to keep the wolf from the door. Soon my modest band of merry critters graced the covers of notebooks, leaped about on wrapping paper and greeted people on gift cards. The tiny menagerie has grown into a small kingdom of collectible prints, stationery and a children's book on the way...
whimsy has been at the i heart market since December 2010.

Angelica Pelati:
I've been trading with the I heart Market since the Beach market in July. I love this market because it's beyond amazing to see so much local handmade treasures. It's really Durban's most quality craft market and I'm so proud to be apart of it! I started making my plushies about 6 years ago. My influences are from England and Ireland. I really loved the creative toys they had there for older kids and I finally found the perfect way to put my creativity to use. I started out making monsters and strange creatures that would appeal to the older market but when I found that younger kids showed interest, I started making things for them as well including animals and ragdolls. Everything I make is hand sewn and designed by me. I'm an Italian South African, born in Benoni and raised in Durban and Dublin, Ireland. I moved back to South Africa after living in Ireland for five years. I missed my country too much. Check out my blog for pictures and future items.
